Total Eclipse of the Moon & Tape Wars -- Dec. 10, 2011

Fallon/Fernley, NV: The day started out with a total eclipse of the moon for which we had an unobstructed view from our 5er bedroom window. Then, for the half-hour drive to work, we looked directly at the eclipse. Pretty cool.

Work, on the other hand, was not so cool. Lots of problems with items throughout the day.

The stickiest of problems came in the last half of the day. Tape wars. Yes, you heard me: tape wars. I was sent to the prep department to help bubble wrap stuff. I've known for a long time that tape guns and I have a hate relationship (no love involved).

While taping bubble wrap on products, the tape stuck everywhere but where I wanted it to...the most annoying place it stuck was on my work gloves. The tape had a one-way love relationship with my gloves and wanted to glom on and not let go. This made it VERY hard to tape packages. Tape wrapped around my thumb and I almost couldn't get it off my glove. I thought the thumb tip of the glove was going to come off with it.  (It didn't.)

Tape wars came to a head about 15 minutes before the end of the day. A piece of tape got stuck on my glove so I thought the best way to get rid of it was to stick it to trash in the trash can. Hah! As I pulled my hand out of the trash can, about four feet of cellophane wrap came trailing out of the trash attached to, you guessed it, the tape on my glove!! Arrrgh! The lady I was working with and I got a big laugh out of it.

Left-over spaghetti for dinner tonight along with a nice green salad. We are going to bed early as tomorrow is our overtime day.

G'night all.

  2. Glad to see you're able to have a few laughs. I've been reading several blogs by people who are working at Amazon. Sounds like the job is not for wimps! Will have questions regarding Oregon as the time gets closer. Having spent my entire life in Florida means I have very little in the way of warm clothing. Not sure what all is needed. Take care.
