Work, Work, Work, Work, Weekend! - Fri., Mar. 14

Back from our travels and it's time to pay the piper or play the pauper. (Translation: Must work to pay for our fun.)

Bob is back at work full time. I just finished four days of work: two at the insurance office and two in the RV park office. Now the weekend beckons.

This morning Bob played basketball and had some good plays. One of his basketball buddies took video of Bob taking a pass under the basket and putting in a lay up. If I knew how to put the video in my blog, you could watch it.

Saturday morning, I'm going to Mitchell Lake Audubon Wetlands for a three-hour class called "Birding by Ear," taught by a self-professed "BirdNerd." The class description reads:
"Ever wonder what great birds you are listening to? [Yes!] Can you tell the difference between a Northern cardinal and a Carolina wren? [Nope.] And just what ARE those birds all singing and squawking about? [I have no idea.] Join our Education Manager (and resident BirdNerd), Jason St. Sauver, for an informal and fun birding tour focused on using your ears more than your eyes."
When the class ends, I'll be picking up Bob and driving an hour to Boerne to do a Volksmarch which we have to start by noon and finish by 3 p.m. Piece of cake, although I do have to eat lunch sometime before the walk or get something while we're walking.

Saturday night, Bob is going to an arena football game between the San Antonio Talons and the L.A. Kiss (owned by Gene Simmons of KISS). Bob has an extra ticket if you are in San Antonio and want to go.

Sunday, Keith and Brenda (of Damn Near Perfect Couple blog) are visiting us in San Antonio. We plan to go to breakfast at the Guenther House, walk the King William Historic Distirict, visit some missions, walk part of the Museum Reach of the RiverWalk, and maybe go see the Buckhorn Museum if they haven't been there. Looking forward to exploring more of San Antonio with them.

Here are the fur-kids, as wonderful as ever!

We have a lap blanket by the door that is waiting for laundry day. Bowie made himself right a home and nested in it.

Sunnie is never far away. He loves to be by my laptop when I'm writing.

  1. I can't recognize many birds by seeing them let alone by their sound.

WOW...do you pack enough events into your weekend? Better eat a big breakfast on Sunday to get through that busy day.

  2. I took a birding by ear class at our local community college and it was amazing. It lasted 6 weeks and by the end I could identify quite a few birds. Over time my memory faded so I took it again and then again. I still can't remember squat for all that effort but the guy who did it was AMAZING. You will love this I just know.

  3. Don't you hate getting back into the grind after being off on a nice vacation?
Real life sometimes gets in the way of our leisure.

As for the video. There are several quick and easy ways to put videos on Blogger. Email me if you want some help. As neat as your photography is, I can see where making slideshows of your pictures would be spectacular as well.

  4. Hi Susan,
in response to your comment on our blog, we are hoping to be here at our gate until the first week of April. However, we have had some really bad issues with our service guy at Gate Guard Services bring fuel and water. Our water has ran dry twice now, once for 2 days while we waited for him and they don't seem to want to address the problem. We should have enough water to last another week and if he doesn't show up we are leaving then! Should we leave I have scouted out a Passport America Park between SA and New Brunfels near the interstate that looks decent for a couple days. We are talking about visiting the River Walk, going out to eat, decompressing sort of thing for those days, hopefully we could get together then maybe?
