Out with the Old... - Fri., Aug. 15

...the old

In with...
...the new
Yes, that's right, our old TV finally bit the dust at 11 years old. We now have a 32" Vizio flat screen TV with an awesome picture! $199.99 from Costco! (The bottom photo is hard to see because the TV show has a black background and it's in a deep cabinet space, so it all looks black.)

Now we have to figure out how to hook up our old DVD/CD player with surround sound to our new system. Thankfully, my co-worker, Ralph, has an idea of how it all works. Bob and I have no clue. He said he'll help us out.

In return we're taking him and his wife Vicki, to Random's Foodstock celebration Saturday night. Random is celebrating the 45th anniversary of Woodstock by holding Foodstock with multiple food trucks, 80+ beers on tap, and a DJ playingsongs that were played at Woodstock. Sounds like a fun evening!

Oh, and Saturday morning, I'm doing an 11K Volksmarch with Susan and Caryl in New Braunfels. It'll be an early start to try to beat most of the heat of the day.

All for now. Travel Bug out.

  1. Yikes! I have the same Sony TV that you had. Guess the clock is ticking on it, it's 7 years old. Don't relish the thought of having to do a change out because the over the dash cabinet will have to be modified. :cO

    1. Not just modifying cabinets, but you have to figure out how to hook up DVD/CD player to new HDMI TV. We couldn't figure it out, so our friend is coming to help us tomorrow afternoon. (We're electrically challenged.)

  3. You probably won't go to the movie theater as often now. Isn't it amazing how good and inexpensive these new TVs are?

    1. I'll still be going to the movies to see blockbusters on the big screen. Part of my DNA. LOL.

  5. We really want to get rid of our big heavy TV but it's the problem of getting it out of the RV since it is so heavy and modifying the area for a new flat screen. Lucky you! Love the idea of "Foodstock". Looking forward to your Volksmarch post.

    1. Bob just carried ours out to his truck. Not sure what to do with it now since it's considered hazardous material. We think since we're in the heart of the city, we'll put it on the curb with a "free' sign and see how long it takes it to disappear.
