So excited about our upcoming trip! - February 11, 2011

Psych! Vacation countdown...six days. Weather in destination has improved from snow, ice, sleet to predicted temperature of 66 degrees F and sunshine when we arrive!  In fact, sunshine is predicted all week so some of the snow/ice will have a chance to melt/thaw. Hiking is distinctly possible to all those waterfalls in the Great Smoky Mountains and other locations in Tennessee and Kentucky. Looks like we won't be confined to our room sitting in front of the fire, although that wouldn't be bad either.

Ah, to be able to sleep in! Vacation is good for that.

On the home front, we got some bad news about our landscaping. Both big trees in our front yard have to come out. We have bad soil so the roots don't go down like they're supposed to...they're growing close to the top of the ground and our foundation and sprinkler system are in danger of being disrupted by the roots. Plus, both trees are competing for the same soil and their roots are interlocking and overlapping. In other words their roots are fighting with each other for nutrients, light and space. When the trees come out, we'll lose our shade and some birds will lose their homes. : (

Bob's new job is going well, with some adjustment of expectations. Part of our trip is a convention for Bob to learn more about his new career.

Not much else happening, so Travel Bug over and out.
