Here Comes the Rain Again -- Mon., Jan. 7

Our Rig was washed and waxed over the past two days. Here are some pics of our newly cleaned home. That's right, I had to document how nice it looks before the rain hits.

You can see how packed into this space we are. The space we had in the back of the park was much bigger, but it filled up with winter snow birds and we had to move. (Low on the totem pole since this is our first year here.)

Rigamarole looking very spiffy. They cleaned the awnings and roof too.

Here we are, packed into our space.

It was a bit close with the tree right there.
So sparkly.
Tonight, I am sitting here listening to big raindrops hitting the roof. At least our home is protected with a fresh coast of wax.

Not only is it raining, lightly at the moment, but a huge rainstorm is expected over the next two days. Weather forecasters say the storm could dump 3-4" of rain, with isolated amounts up to 6" (which is what San Antonio usually gets in eight months). Hail, strong winds and possible tornadoes (tornadoes east of San Antonio) are also predicted.

The last time we had that much rain (May 2012) we were gate guarding in south Texas by Cotulla. We had a river running by our RV

Today was very low key. I couldn't sleep last night, tossing and turning in bed. The last time I looked at the clock at was 5:00 a.m. Soooooo, I didn't wake up until 1:00 p.m.! Felt good when I did wake up, though.

Once again our mail-forwarding service has fallen down on the job. I don't know what to do to motivate them or activate them or otherwise let them know how important it is to send our mail to us once a week. That's what we pay them for.

This afternoon I made guacamole with our four ripe avocados. That tastes so good with our healthy chips from Costco. For dinner we had tomato basil soup, also from Costco.

Some of you have been asking about Volksmarching. The link to learn more about it from AVA with introductory flyers is here: What We're About

Bowie was pretty cute this afternoon. He became Bowie the Computer Geek.

"I wonder what Mom does here all the time?"

"My turn now."
Bob shopped at Costco this afternoon and brought home more boxes. Our living room is now a kitty playground! One of the boxes has a wedge cut on one side, so if one of the cats goes on top of the box, it tips sideways so it becomes like a kitty teeter totter. Very entertaining to watch with one cat inside and one cat on top making the box move.

Here are Sunnie and Bowie showing their appreciation for the new "toys."

Sunnie is the spotlight hog.
Sunnie again.
And Sunnie yet again. Bowie is behind the flipped box.
There's Bowie.
Sunnie hogging the limelight yet again.
Tomorrow a number of RV ladies are getting together for lunch at Cheddar's Restaurant. Last count I heard was seven women attending. Can't wait to meet everybody and swap stories.

Saturday, we will be heading up to San Marcos for a Volksmarch. Peri and Jim plan to go too. They mentioned going on the Aquarena Springs glass bottom boat ride when we finish walking. The weather is supposed to be pretty good on Saturday. Here's keeping our fingers crossed that the weather this Saturday is just as nice as the weather last Saturday. My feet are feeling much better today and no other side effects from walking 18+  miles this weekend.

It's getting late. Good night.

Travel Bug out.

  1. Well, at least you have a little protection from other rigs around you in case the winds pick up. Looking forward to Spring here and good weather so we can properly wash and wax our 5er. Yours sure looks pretty now! :)

  2. Your cats are just like kids on Christmas Day, playing with wrappers and boxes instead of their presents.

    1. Hi Janice,
I think it's great you're going to check out Volkswalking. It really is a good way to see places you otherwise wouldn't know about. Lots of the walks are through neighborhoods so it's fun to look at landscaping and homes.

There are sponsored events that go through flowers during flower festivals, and all different points of interest--Crazy Horse Memorial comes to mind.

Anyway, if you do start Volkswalking, let me know.

      Susan

  5. Of course, if you had not washed and waxed the rig, the day would have been bright, warm and sunny! ;c)
