Lion and Rose Pub - Sat., Jan. 11

Time for me to make my words catch up with my life. Same thing I did on Wednesday. When we're busy, I don't have time to write.

Wednesday night, after Bob met the owner of Sugar Belle Cupcakes to discuss doing accounting work for her, he was carrying two bakery boxes. Bound to be something good in those boxes. Yup! Cupcakes...1-1/2 dozen to be exact. Created by Shana Allen, owner of Sugar Belles, our flavors were: banana, coconut, strawberry shortcake, crème brulée (my favorite), fancy chocolate, and vanilla. Each of us took cupcakes to work with us on Thursday. Sometimes, Shana makes cupcakes using beer in the batter to showcase some of Random's beers on tap.

Thursday and Friday, we worked. Friday night our RV park had happy hour from 6:00 - 6:45 p.m. Then at 7:00, we had movie night. The movie, as stated from a previous blog, was "Argo," the 2012 Best Picture Oscar winner. Even after seeing it five times, I still love it. 13 people came to see the movie; they all clapped at the end.

Today I worked my first of five Saturdays in a row. Have I ever told you I love my job? Well I do. I make reservations, check RVers in and out, explain park rules, how to ride the city bus, and sell items from our park store. The job is a lot like being a concierge. We book sightseeing tours for people, answer questions about things to do in the area, give directions, put mail in people's mail slots, invite newcomers to park activities, and talk to people about where they're from, where they're going and how they're enjoying their stay. Most people are in a good mood because they're traveling.

Bob played basketball at the gym this morning with his buddies, then spent the afternoon at Random watching the Seahawks and Saints play. He was thrilled the Seahawks won.

This evening, he took me out to dinner at The Lion & Rose British Restaurant and Pub in San Antonio. We're on a kick of trying new restaurants and we're starting on Broadway.

According to The Lion & Rose Pub website:
"Pubs aren't just about drinking. A true British pub, unlike many area bars, is a place to gather for a great meal, warm conversation, good music and fine spirits."
You can play darts, watch sports, compete in the Trivia game, and tip back a pint or two. For dinner we both ordered a side salad and Central London Chicken Curry over basmati rice. The service was excellent and the food was very yummy. The curry dish was spicy hot. We will be going back to try other menu items.

Looks like Bob is enjoying his food.

Tomorrow we are driving two hours to Corpus Christi to Volksmarch with two other bloggers staying in Port Aransas. We likely will do lunch after the walk. I swear I will not fall this time!

Our wheels are about to roll. Time to scratch the hitch itch. We will be off on a two-week trip to Las Vegas for mini-family reunions for (1) Bob's family and (2) I'll be meeting cousins I've recently reunited with (within the past two years).

This Travel Bug is counting the days until the wheels turn! Stay tuned.

Cozy kitties bid you goodnight.

    1. These cupcakes were pretty special. The creme brulee cupcakes had a custard-like pudding in them and almond flavoring. Tasted so much like creme brulee!

  3. We fell in love with English pubs on our two trips to London. Nice to know there is one here in the States, now we've got this one on our places to visit list the next time we're in San Antonio.

    1. We love pubs too. Went to a couple in Australia. There's a few pubs here in San Antonio...we've been to two (one on the Riverwalk).
