What are my favorite places and outdoor activities?
- Snorkeling in tropical locations
- The Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper, Alberta, Canada
- Hiking to waterfalls everywhere we can find them
- Walking trails
- Visiting gardens
- The Great Ocean Road in Victoria state, Australia
- Wildflower viewing anywhere
- Bird watching, especially in Australia
- River rafting
- Volksmarching (see ava.org)
- National Parks
- State Parks
- Mountains with big trees, lakes, and sweeping viewpoints
- Watching sunsets
- Zoos
- Swimming holes (spring-fed or with a waterfall tumbling into the pool)
Where I'll Be Found
The huge oak tree at the water's side,
The river flowing deep and wide,
The moon's soft shadows on the ground,
This is the place where I'll be found.
I love this natural, wooded scene
Where everything is so serene.
My mind is filled with happiness,
I know I'll never like it less.
It was created for you and me
To go and enjoy every tree;
All the animals, plants and rocks
Nature doesn't have any locks.
I am pretty sure I followed you in the 2012 A-Z and just found you again! Good post. We are living at 8400ft in the middle of the Andes Mtns here in Ecuador, outdoor is amazing!!

That last sentence, "Nature doesn't have any locks." stuck out for me. It's people who make gates and fences and walls, and keep other people out! On Maui, there were some lovely hikes and waterfall areas that are now closed off because too many people "discovered" them.

BTW, you're doing great with the challenge. I found out this year, that it's OK to be behind by even a few letters, as long as you are making an effort to keep posting. The A-Z team is actually pretty understanding.
