Continued from Part 1...
Here's "the rest of the story" from earlier today. When I left off in my earlier blog, I was "hangry" (hungry + angry). It was time to find lunch!
Jan and Rick had two different places in mind and they were both in Lowell (kind of a suburb of Bisbee). The first place we went was a throw-back to days gone by: Dot's Diner. I loved the place. In addition to the Diner, there was a period RV park with old RVs you could rent (like a motel).

There was a line so we waited about 20 minutes for a table outside. When a table opened up, one side was in full sun. The black metal chairs were burning hot on our legs in shorts.

We gave up the table and went to the second eating establishment in Lowell, the Bisbee Breakfast Club.
There were scores of people waiting to get into the Bisbee Breakfast Club. We put our name on the list and were told there was an hour wait! With nowhere to sit, we walked the two-block-long main street of Lowell. It was quite amusing. Old cars parked on the street made it look like we were in another era.

A window display in the Indian Motorcycle store about Samantha Morgan (an Indian motorcycle Motordrome rider) caught my eye. When I wrote the blog, I looked her up to find out more. She was really something. This article about her from the NY Times is fascinating. She was born in 1953 and passed away in 2008 from injuries sustained in her Motordrome stunts.

It only took us a half-hour to roam the two blocks. When we got back to the restaurant, there were some benches available after a group went in.

We have no idea why this mural with UFOs is in Lowell, Arizona. |
Finally, after a TWO-HOUR wait, we were seated in the Bisbee Breakfast Club. Oh, man, I'm about to eat everything on the menu! I thought my breakfast was really good: two 3-oz. tenderloin filets with two eggs. Bob got a HUGE breakfast burrito. We had some enormous biscuits. I could only eat half of one. Rick and Jan split a plate of tenderloin filets and two eggs. It took a long time to get breakfast, but it was worth it.

After brunch, on our drive back to the RV park, we stopped at a scenic viewpoint which is the Lavender Pit Mine. Once again, we learned a lot in a little time. |

We then headed back to the RV park for the afternoon and evening. We each did our own dinner that night.
It was a wonderful day!
