Cheesecake Factory Brunch - Sun., Jan. 5

I've mentioned meetup.com on my blog on more than one occasion. Today's Cafe Society of San Antonio's outing was brunch at the Cheesecake Factory at Northstar Mall. Fourteen intrepid attendees showed up (but our leader, Carole, did not make it today).

Upon arrival at 11:00 a.m., our group was seated immediately. We beat the Sunday rush, which at this location didn't start until after noon. Cheesecake Factory offers brunch items only on Sunday from 10 a.m. to about 1:00 p.m. The serving sizes are huge! Sorry no photos today.

I ordered chicken and egg chilaquiles which are spicy scrambled eggs with seasoned chicken and corn tortilla chips. There was enough for a huge portion for my brunch, and I boxed up the rest to take home to Bob (who chose to go running this morning). Norma, across the table from me, ordered French Toast Napoleon which is a pile of French toast layered with Chantilly cream and fresh cut-up strawberries. She shared with me which was awfully nice of her because I LOVE French Toast Napoleon!! I offered her some of the Chilaquiles but she decided not to have any.

We had interesting conversations. One of the ladies at our table works in Human Resources for the new amazon.com fulfillment center in Schertz, Texas. We had something in common because our first workamping job was the receiving department in the amazon.com fulfillment center in Fernley, NV. She is a brave soldier to work in HR during the holiday season in a brand new fulfillment center. That's a lot of hiring and scheduling. She said she was working six, 12-14-hour days through the holiday rush. Wow.

Other people were talking about upcoming plays and concerts at The Majestic Theatre in downtown San Antonio. The upcoming play I'd most like to see is "Wicked," the wicked witches' perceptions about the Wizard of Oz.

Another topic was other meetup groups people belonged to. There are so many groups...something for everyone.

The remainder of Sunday was a day of relaxation.

Travel Bug out.

    1. Thank you.

I hope I can go too, but they said it was almost sold out within the first few days tickets went on sale. I'm a little slow at buying tickets.
