Ahhhh, slept in today. What a treat. Bob and I planned to do the 10k (6.2 miles) Schertz (pronounced shirts) Historic Volksmarch which is about 35 minutes from us.
The day was partly cloudy with a forecast high of 76 degrees. Our starting point was the Shertz YMCA. After I signed in and we picked up our map, we headed across the parking lot to the Veterans Memorial Plaza.
This is a beautifully done memorial to honor soldiers who have fallen in the line of duty.
In the center pentagon is a statue of a Battle Cross: boots, rifle and helmet.

The walk wound back and forth through neighborhoods, past ball fields and a park. Spring is definitely in the air.

By the time the walk was over, we were pretty whiny. The sun came out and we were quite warm. Bob hadn't done much physical activity in two weeks, so he was out of shape. Overall, though, we're happy we got out and exercised. It took us a little over two hours.
By the time we returned to the YMCA parking lot, our car was the only one left. (The Y closed at 5 pm, we were back to the lot by 5:30 pm.)
Travel Bug out.
