Alaskan Cruise, Day 7 - Victoria, British Columbia - Friday, August 11, 2023

Day 7 on the Norwegian Bliss

Port: Victoria, British Columbia
Arrival: 8:00 p.m.
Dock: Victoria

Plan for the evening: Kristin and Rich are taking the night tour to Butchart Gardens and sightseeing downtown. The other nine of us will stay on the ship.

All aboard: 11:30 p.m.

Weather forecast: Partly sunny, 64° F.

The first thing we did after breakfast was to watch Kristin and Rich take a Basic Swing Dance Class at 9:45 a.m. Kristin is a swing dancer and has belonged to swing dance clubs. Rich was taking his first lesson, I think. It was fun to watch.

dance class.

This afternoon, as we were cruising, we took time to see the last "Beatles Experience: All the Hits" in the Bliss Theater at 2:30 p.m. They played songs from their heyday in The Cavern Club including "Twist & Shout," then progressed into the psychedelic era of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," through their later years, and then included songs the Beatles never got to perform live together.

After the Beatles Experience show, we stayed for a farewell finale from the officers, staff, and crew of the Norwegian Bliss. They introduced all the important staff who served us from managers up to the Captain. They received lots of accolades.

For dinner, Bob and I went to Cagney's Steakhouse. (While we dined, we cruised into Victoria Harbor which is on Vancouver Island.) That's one of our favorite restaurants on the Norwegian Cruise Line ships. The steaks are cooked to perfection and we order garlic mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, and awesome desserts. Of course, we rolled out of Cagney's and then had to diet for a week!

Dressed for dinner at Cagney's.

In the evening, we packed our bags for our departure to Seattle tomorrow. The luggage had to be in the hallway by 11:00 p.m. Of course, we kept our reading material to read while we wait to get off the ship tomorrow.

Packing bags.

I love the Lizbeth Salander novels!

That's it for today. Tomorrow, we're back to being landlubbers.

  1. Butchart Gardens by night excursion was lovely in May -probably amazing in August. The Beatles show was cancelled on our cruise- our only cruise disappointment. Thanks for the memories.
