Getting Ready for Our Cruise - Thursday, August 3, 2023

It's a mellow day here. I slept in and took it easy. Bob got up early to work.

We leave on our cruise Saturday. Today, I did six loads of laundry. We are ready for anything now.

In the weather forecasts for next week in Alaska, the projections are for rain at every port, every day. The chances of rain are 36% to 58%. Good grief. I'll be taking warm clothes and rain gear. What a bummer. The temperatures in Alaska have been ideal for the past two weeks. We're going to hope they're wrong!

Yesterday, when we arrived at Evergreen Coho SKP RV Park in Chimacum there had been some mix-up and they were going to put us in an electric/water-only site. Our reservations specifically said "full hookups." We did end up with a full hookup site.

The site we're in now backs up to a forest.

However, today we were told the site has a new owner and he wants his site now. Ummm. We are leaving Saturday for our cruise for a week. We either need to move Friday or the Monday we get back. The park office told us they probably wouldn't have the paperwork done by tomorrow, so it looks like we'll have to move on Monday, Aug. 14. We were hoping to be in one site for our full 2-1/2 weeks.

Also, Monday the 14th is when the repair person is supposed to come to fix our hot water heater. Out of the frying pan and into the fire! We'll see how that pans out.

Tomorrow, Diane Howell Evans, Bob, and I will do the 12 km Volksmarch at Lake Crescent called "Spruce Railroad." It is a paved trail that used to be a railway bed. There are tunnels, and we're supposed to bring flashlights! We'll have lunch on the way home.

Friday night, we're meeting Hadley, our petsitter from Rover.com. She will visit our cats twice a day to give Sunnie his insulin and feed them, and clean the litter box. We've used rover.com before in Portland, Maine, and were pleased with that person.

Not much else to report. We'll be up early to go hiking. Talk to you later.
