Teeth! -- Tues., Feb. 5

Temporary crowns, but teeth to fill in the gaps and breaks. It's been 4-1/2 months since my fall, so I'm very happy to have temporary teeth. My permanent crowns will be at the dentist in 2-1/2 weeks. Now the inside of my upper gum won't feel like jello from rubbing against the broken teeth! Yay.

Two front teeth and small tooth to the right are temporary crowns.

The anesthesia is wearing off and my mouth hurts. Ouch.

The prognosis is that for the rest of my life I cannot bite on carrots, peanut brittle, apples, corn on the cob with my crowns. I can, however, eat sandwiches, burgers, tacos, using my front teeth, as long as I don't make any ripping movements like say, with beef jerky. So no beef jerky, not that I ever eat it. If I use my side teeth to bite carrots, peanut brittle, etc., that's okay, just not with the permanent crowns (once I get them).

On the way home from the dentist I stopped at the $5.00 Exterior Car Wash with free do-it-yourself vacuum included. On the way out, I say the beautiful mural of the Statue of Liberty. I snapped a photo from my car, but it's off to the side. I was going to get out and take a better photo, but two people were trying to go around me. Oops. Here's my effort. It's kind of cool with the tree branch shadows over it.

Statue of Liberty mural at car wash.
At the RV park, I noticed the following sign...

If you plan to stay at Traveler's World RV in San Antonio, you better have a reservation. This place is popular! Since yesterday, every single space has been full. It might be because the San Antonio Rodeo is Feb. 7-23.

The park is hoppin'. Lots of people out walking dogs, walking themselves, swimming, bike riding, talking and hanging out at their picnic tables. It was almost 80 today!!

Tomorrow we have an 80% chance of thunderstorms. Yep, right after I get my car washed. That was always a joke in Oregon because it seemed like it was always raining.

For dinner, I cooked a pot of home made chili. It smells good simmering on the stove. We also have a big green salad with avocado, red peppers, tomatoes and blueberries. I can hardly wait...I haven't eaten since oatmeal for breakfast at 11:00 a.m.

Not a lot happening, but getting some temporary teeth is pretty exciting (to me).

Have a great week.

  2. Exciting, Yes, I should say!!! And this from someone who avoids the dentist like a plague. I'm so glad that soon this ordeal will be behind you completely. It belongs in your bad memory bank not to be revisited ever again. Yea!!!

    1. Thanks!

I would guess all the parks are filling up if ours is any indication.

  4. Hooray for the teeth! Yep, it's probably the rodeo that's filling up the park. It IS Texas, after all! :)

  5. Way excited for you...you will have your permanent crowns before you know it! I have had crowns on my front teeth since I was 10. I'm probably not suppose to, but I do bite into apples!

I agree with Steve and Joan...need to revisit San Antonio. It was raining, sleeting, and snowing there a few weeks ago when we stopped for a week visit. Only saw the Alamo and the River Walk. I have sure enjoyed your walks!

    1. I'm don't mind cutting up an apple to eat in. In fact, I prefer to cut it into slices first. My mouth feels so much better today.

Last night I had to take an 800 mg ibuprofen we had left over from the fall, but today my mouth almost feels normal.

When did it sleet and snow in San Antonio? I remember it got pretty cold and we had patches of ice on the roads. Were you in Hill Country?

  6. I cannot imagine how good those temporary crowns must feel. The first blog I read was when you had your accident. Wow that seems like so long ago now. But for you I'm sure not. Your accident was just horrible, I'm so glad it is almost all in the past for you. And now I am still reading happy posts now :)

  8. We have finally made it to Ft Worth & the Rodeo & Stock show is in full swing here ending Sat. We will head south on Sun. Had hoped to stay at Travelers RV, we've stayed there before, & meet y'all. Guess we'll have to see how close we can get as we come through. If your permanent crowns look half as good as the temps, they'll be winners. They look Great! Got to feel better! Tom & Lynn

    1. Tom & Lynn,
You might call Travelers World to see if they have any openings. You never know. This is a busy park...seems like someone is always coming or going.

Let us know when you are in town. We can get together.

By the way, do you have a blog?

  9. I've had crowns on my two front teeth for about 5 years now. I still worry about one of them coming off some day, but I try to be careful. Your temps look great!

  10. Your temporary crowns look great. And -- yay! -- the permanents are only a couple weeks away. Hope the pain has now completely dissipated.

  13. Looking good! I'm glad that you're at the home stretch and that things will be back to (mostly) normal soon. I'm waiting for a crown too right now. I've had to go in four times since Christmas because of issues with the crown - the impression didn't work, and then the stupid crown CRACKED when they were putting it in. Dental work is awful. Everytime I'm sitting in the chair and they're sticking in the needle, I can't help but feel that it would make a fabulous form of torture.
