Walkabout Two-fer, Part 2 - Wed., May 8

Part 2: Bob joined me for our San Antonio Hill Country Hikers Urban Walk in the King William District and along the south Riverwalk to Roosevelt Park. We started at 7:00 p.m. and headed south from the Blue Star Brewery area along the south Riverwalk to Roosevelt Park. 18 people walked this evening.

Crossing the river.
You never know what you will see. I like the way these people think. See photo below.

San Antonio River
Most of the people walked past the heron below. He was as still as a statue and no one saw him (except me). He was about four feet from the path.

Snowy egret at night. Still fishing.
The Hill Country Hikers walked at a moderate pace tonight, not the "fitness hike" pace of last Friday night. I still had to run to catch up when I stopped to take a photo. Wait a minute! I don't want to be a runner, but I'll sacrifice for a good photo. Jasmine bloomed along the trail so we had pockets of sweet jasmine perfume as we walked.

The temperature was just about right at 72 degrees, but it was rather humid. The good news is there was a very nice breeze blowing so we didn't get too sticky. Total miles for this hike: 4.5.

Total miles I hiked today: 10.7.

Our hike was finished at 8:25 p.m. Bob and I walked across the street from our hike finish to La Tuna Grill where we had fish and chips for dinner. I had a Corona with lime and Bob had a Modelo beer. The grill had the Spurs play-off game on HDTV. Very good.

Tomorrow I start my job at the RV park office! I'm looking forward to it. Everyone is so nice there.

Must get some sleep. I start at 8:00 a.m.

Travel Bug out.

  1. Oh, but I would've enjoyed going on that walk! Love a pace like that when one also wants to soak in what's around. Showed the pick of your husband to my hub. He said, "Yep, he's a marathoner." Hub's got the same shirt. . . and more like it, same color.

Hub hadn't heard of Modelo beer so clicked it in to try one if it pops up here. He enjoys a good beer when certain things come together, man's man stuff. Like playing poker. He loves the game for the sake of the game and would play for matchsticks. But one of the guys in his foursome moved away and he hasn't played in a while.

Good luck with your new job. It's really great how you've settled in, made friends and are in the swing of things.

    1. We love walking along the Riverwalk, not just downtown where all the restaurants and businesses are, but also north and south of downtown.

I tried Bob's Modelo beer. It was good with a bit more of the flavor of hops than Corona.

Thanks on the job. Today I worked 1/2 day and tomorrow will be another half day. So far, so good.

    1. I liked the pain job on the house with Make Tacos not war in the window.

Job was good today. I worked 1/2 day today and will work 1/2 day tomorrow. I think she plans to put me on two days per week.

    2. I like the paint job on the house with "Make tacos not war" in the window. If you're going to paint it pink you might as well make it a bright pink, right?

The job is good. I worked 1/2 day today and will work 1/2 day tomorrow. I will work two days per week, unless she likes me so much she puts me on six days a week. LOL.
