Blogging While the Turkey Roasts - Sat., March 12, 2016

We are in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada. We pulled out from San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday, March 6, which meant we missed the rain that hit San Antonio.

On the morning we departed, a foggy mist enveloped us as we drove. We stopped in Ozona for gas. Across the street, my eyes were drawn to an unusual vehicle. Great advertising, but I thought I was in Roswell, NM.

Continuing west, we crossed into New Mexico around 1 pm. We stopped at the New Mexico Visitor Center/Rest Area for a break. The day ended up being gorgeous.

Our destination today was Dream Catcher Escapees RV Park in Deming, NM. We arrived about 3:30 pm and chose a pull-through site. We set up in about five minutes as we didn't unhook the truck from the 5th wheel.

Easy set up, not much landscaping, but
we're only staying overnight.
There was no cable TV in the park, but there was a TV with cable in the clubhouse. I went there to watch "60 Minutes." Toward the end of the show Lynne and her husband, Dave, came in. Lynne and I quickly discovered we have a lot in common. We both blog, both have cats, and both love photography and travel. You can read about their travels on her blogs: Casita in the Desert (previous blog), and her new blog Winter in the Desert, Summer in the Mountains. (She changed the name of her blog because they don't have a Casita.)

Today was a driving day. When all was said and done, we were on the road for 11 hours. Tomorrow, we head to Lake Pleasant Regional Park northwest of Phoenix.

[Note: I am writing this blog Saturday, March 12, while cooking a turkey at our friend's home in Henderson, Nevada. It smells so good in here. Check out this gorgeous kitchen she's letting me use. Thank you, Kristin!]

  1. Thank you, Susan, for the link. It was great meeting you....can't believe we have so many blogging friends in common!
Enjoy Las Vegas! We are waterlogged in Louisiana at the moment.

  2. That Alienware truck is pretty weird looking. I guess companies that are into gaming need to look out of the ordinary.

I will check out Lynne's blog. Hopefully, later in the week I will have some down time to read blogs. Your trip sounds fun. The one campground did look kind of barren but then parts of New Mexico are like that.

I have an aunt that lives in Henderson. I haven't been there in years, though.

    Safe travels!!!
