A Whack Upside the Head -- Tues., Mar. 27

Life is crazy sometimes, isn't it? Another wrinkle has been creased into the fabric of our lives.

Bob lost his job Monday. A bit of a shock, but as Tom Petty sings, "The future is wide open." There are so many opportunities out there for workampers.

We leave for Texas in 1-1/2 weeks. Our plan was to leave my car here and return to Sparks, BUT now we can do whatever we want. My Escape pod will be coming with us on this trip.

One of our options, since we will be in Texas, is to become gate guards for an oil company. We've been reading blogs about this type of work and it seems busy, dirty and remote, but it pays pretty well. Looks like we could work May through July as gate guards (if there is a position available) then take our month-long Yellowstone trip. After Yellowstone, we would head to Portland for my sister, Jan's, wedding on September 22.

With that schedule, it would be logical for us to return to Sparks in October to work at amazon.com in Fernley again.

So, next week a new adventure begins. We keep reinventing ourselves...pretty cool.

  1. If you decide to do the gate guarding thing, consider this your welcome. We've been doing this since December. We're taking a break soon, but will be back during the summer. We may go to the Kerrville Rally, not sure yet. We need to buy tires for our toad so that may take our rally money. Hopefully my bean-counter husband will give the approval to do both. He does a great job on our finances. Glad you've enjoyed my blog. I'm catching up on yours :-)

  2. Sorry to hear abut the job loss. You guys seem to have plenty of options. We are headed to Oregon as you have read. We're in Tulsa right now waiting on repairs. Glad we gave our selves plenty of time. Life is what it is and you just deal with it as it happens. Sending positive vibes your way. Joan
