Black Water Tank -- Tues., Nov. 29

Reno, NV: Today we had our appointment at Sierra RV to get the black water tank fixed.

Black water tank...sounds ominous, doesn't it? Believe me it is if it doesn't work. Can't wait to be able to use the toilet in the rig instead of the RV park restroom (long, cold walks--still, better than the pioneers of old had it in their covered wagons! That puts it in perspective.)

Our early drive into Reno got us there without too much rush hour traffic. A brief nap was in order while we waited for the service department to open at 8:30 a.m. We explained all our service needs to the service manager, detached the truck and ran around Reno to take care of some errands.

Lunch was at El Pollo Loco, one of our favorite fast food restaurants. (There weren't any in Hawaii, so we enjoyed reacquainting ourselves with their menu.)

The service department called us around 11:0 0 a.m. to let us know the black water tank cable was broken and it was going to take them six hours to fix it. They closed at 5:00 p.m. so they were just going to be able to finish it.

We shopped at Target and Costco and picked up our 5er at 5:00 p.m. (as they were closing shop). Unfortunately we were not so lucky with traffic leaving Reno at rush hour. I was a nervous wreck. Do you have any idea how hard it is to stop a truck towing a 34' trailer in heavy traffic with cars darting in front of you taking up the extra stopping distance you were careful to leave? Yikes. If at all possible, we will try to hit big cities on Sunday morning about 6:00 a.m.

Back at the RV park, we happily re-parked our 5er and settled in for the night. Bob went out and picked up Chinese food for dinner.
