Sparks to Las Vegas, NV:
Yesterday, I stopped at the Fernley Post Office to mail a package to Mom. Total price: $1.28. I opened my purse to pull out the money and I had $1.27. That's embarrassing. I told the clerk I could give her $1.27 or we could put it on my debit card. She was so nice. She had a penny in her drawer and used that to pay the rest of my tab. LOL. Note to self: Go to ATM more often.
We're taking the Escape to Las Vegas today. Long drive...about 8-9 hours from Reno. It's a good thing both of us like to drive. We've got reading materials and snacks so we're set. We'll stop in Tonopah for lunch.

We had no incidents moving the 5er from Fallon to Sparks, although Bob did say he almost got in an accident in the roundabout about a block from our new RV Park...someone thought it would be OK to rapidly switch lanes in front of him. He had to slam on the brakes which is not good when you're towing seven tons of trailer!
Got our "home" settled into its new spot.About 4:00 p.m., really cold! |
After we got settled, Bob wanted to walk around the lake which is about 1/4 mile away. We bundled up in our coats, gloves, scarves and started walking.
Even Bob was too cold. He said, "Enough!" after we got about 3/4 miles.

We walked over to Scheel's at the Legends Mall and walked around inside. Ahhh, warmth! Scheels is a HUGE sports store. There's a working Ferris wheel inside and a Ferris wheel "museum" along one wall. A bi-plane hangs from the ceiling of the second floor. There are two "aquariums" you can walk under and around...one with tropical fish (reminded us of Hawaii) and one with west coast fish (trout, etc.). Oh, did I mention they sell sporting goods too--fishing, biking, hiking, running, soccer, golf--you get the picture.

Looking forward to seeing our Vegas family and friends, oh, and Bob's brother and family flew out from Kentucky for Christmas too.
Heading out the door to Las Vegas. Travel Bug out.
